This publication is a compilation of the papers presented at the Conference “Exercising the right to freedom of religion in the workplace in Europe. Main tendencies in business and the Public Administration”, which was held at the University of Girona on 6 November 2015, under the direction of Dr. Ferran Camas Roda.

It is a question that is making headway in the Courts of Justice of different European countries. Although usually poorly regulated, it is an extremely sensitive issue for workers, especially Muslims, but also for workers of other faiths, who ignore whether they can observe their religion in the workplace through the use of religious attire or symbols. Indeed, what became apparent from the debates was that this issue was often decided on by employers of their own accord.

Besides exploring issues related to the right to freedom of religion in Spain, this books explores the international tendencies in the recognition of religious diversity in the workplace as well as the comparative experiences of countries in which conflicts stemming from this issue have been in the public eye; particularly, the United Kingdom, France and Belgium.
